GIVING BACK

“No one has ever become poor by giving.” – Anne Frank

Dedicated to my beautiful mother, Janet.

In the blink of an eye your whole world can change.  In 2014, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Uterine Cancer out of the blue.  Not only was it stage 4, her type of cancer was classified as undifferentiated.  What this means is the cancer cell type is unknown. We immediately moved my mother to Houston to seek treatment at MD Anderson to fight this monster.

Her aggressive treatments and numerous clinical trials were brutal. Through it all, my mother never complained, or said, “Why me”?  My mother always maintained a positive attitude. Even the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson, along with her support group were amazed at her positivity. That was my mom. She fought with such dignity and grace. She could be unbelievably sick from her treatments and she would put on her wig and makeup. She said, “If she looked better, she would feel better”. Any day she felt good, she lived life.

In 2016, my mother lost her battle with cancer. I love and miss her more than words can say.  My mother was my hero, my best friend, my inspiration, and the best mother a daughter could ever have. At my mother’s funeral, my father said my mother had the big C, COURAGE. That was my mom. I made my mother a promise that I would start my own company and fulfill my passion.

My mother was an animal lover. Pets always seemed to show up at our house growing up and we always took them in or found homes for them. My mother believed in helping others and giving back. In honor of my mother,  Lisa Pierce Events will donate a portion of net profits to the following charities:

MD Anderson, The American Cancer Society, local Animal Shelters/Organizations, and the Wounded Warrior Project. Lisa Pierce Events will post donations on our blog as they are made.

I love you Mom!
